Hi, my name is Tammy L. Gray and I love writing about the messy yet glorious journey that is our Christian walk all while weaving a beautiful love story that will keep your heart racing and pages turning. I believe that we all can find freedom through fiction, whether it’s renewing our faith or just relating to a certain character so much it challenges us to reexamine our lives. Sometimes it takes walking through someone else’s struggle to see and tackle our own. And if not, you can always just spend a few wonderful hours with a new book boyfriend.  For more information about my contemporary romances, you can find a list of all my books here on my website and on my author Facebook page and Instagram.

Love and a Little White Lie_TAMMY L. GRAY Small.jpeg

My newest release, Love and a Little White Lie, is the first in a new series. Here’s what it’s about:

January Sanders grew up believing karma was more reliable than an imaginary higher power, but after suffering her worst heartbreak in 29 years, she's open to just about anything, including taking a temporary position at her aunt's church. What she doesn't count on is meeting the church's handsome and charming guitarist. It's a match set for disaster, and yet January has no ability to stay away, even if it means pretending to have faith in a God she doesn't believe in. Only this time, keeping secrets isn't as easy as she thought it would be. Especially when she's constantly running into her aunt's landscape architect, who seems to know everything about her past and present sins and makes no apologies about pushing her to deal with feelings she'd rather keep buried.

Torn between two worlds incapable of coexisting, can January find the healing that's eluded her or will her resistance to the truth ruin any chance of happiness?

There’s a lot of irony in hitting rock bottom and a lot of humor too, especially when an atheist gets a job at a church. I know how she feels. I didn’t become a believer until I was in my twenties and now I’m a pastor’s wife. As with January, the transition wasn’t always easy, so I thought I’d share with you my Top 5 Funniest Christianese Sayings that make us sound crazy to non-believers:

5. On fire for God. Only in the Christian world is being on fire a good thing. To anyone else, it represents pain and death. Not really the best way to convince a person to come check out your church.

4. Filled with the spirit. When I first heard this, my mind immediately went to ghosts and the Exorcise. No thank you. Many unbelievers recognize the bad spirits but have no concept of the good One.

3. Washed in the blood.  If demon possession wasn’t enough… now they are picturing us bathing in red sticky substances.

2. Equally yoked. The only yoke I knew before becoming a Christian was the one inside of an egg.

1. Hedge of protection.  Are we praying a garden around people? Will we beat back the bad guys with rose bushes and shrubbery?

All kidding aside, we have to be careful to balance current culture with our Christian culture, because what sounds like an honest response to a seasoned believer can make a non-believer think we may have lost our minds.
